Le mani sono sempre la parte più difficile da gestire in una foto per una persona che non è abituata stare davanti alla fotocamera e spesso, questa parte del corpo, è quella che mette più a disagio il soggetto se la posa non è gestita dal fotografo. Ma quando si dice al soggetto che stiamo fotografando solo il volto, allora le mani si rilassano, sanno di non essere le protagoniste e assumono la posizione più naturale in quel momento.
Questo progetto racconta proprio questo; nessuno dei soggetti sapeva che, subito dopo lo scatto al volto, avrei fatto lo scatto della posizione delle loro mani, mettendole a confronto con l'espressione e diventando un contrasto con l'espressione del viso e talvolta rafforzandola.
How does a person hold the hands and tell them we're just doing a portrait?
Hands are always the most difficult part to manage in a photo for a person who is not used to being in front of the camera and often, this part of the body is the one that makes the subject more uncomfortable if the pose is not managed by the photographer. But when we say to the subject that we are photographing only the face, then the hands relax, they know they are not the protagonists and they assume the most natural position at that moment.
This project tells just that; none of the subjects knew that, immediately after the shot to the face, I would have taken the shot of the position of their hands, comparing them with the expression and sometimes becoming a contrast with the expression of the face and sometimes strengthening it.
